Dr P A Azeez is presently the Senior Principal Scientist and Head of the Environmental Impact Assessment Division at SACON. He is basically trained in Ecotoxicology with special interest in Environmental Chemistry of organic and inorganic contaminants. He is also involved in related fields such as environmental Management, sustainable development and environmental economics. He has published a number of scientific papers and reports on various Environmental Issues and has guided doctoral and postdoctoral researches. Lalitha
Vijayan. Master of Science from Calicut University (1972), Ph.D.
in Field Ornithology of the Bombay University (1985) for a study
on the comparative biology of drongos in South India under the guidance
of late Dr. Salim Ali. Senior member of multidisciplinary team,
who studied the 'Ecosystem of Keoladeo National Park' for a decade
(1981-1991). Principal Scientist & Head of Avian Ecology Division
of SACON since 1992. Her interests are in avian community ecology,
species ecology, wetland ecology and endangered bird conservation.

Narendra Prasad. Master of Science in Bioscience (1974); Ph.D.
from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (1981) for his studies
on the ecology and utilization of bamboo resources of Karnataka.
Principal Scientist in the Terrestrial Ecology Division since 1992.
His interests are in ecological studies, especially with the help
of Remote Sensing and GIS in the Western Ghats and Himalayas. For

interactions in Point Calimere Wildlife Sanctuary, Tamil Nadu. Scientist
in the bird migration and ecology of Point Calimere projects for

He concentrates on plant-animal and human-plant interactions.For

Sankaran. Bachelor of Science from Madras University (1986).
Awarded Ph.D. in Field Ornithology of the Bombay University (1991)
for his studies on the breeding behaviour of the Lesser Florican
Sypheotides indica and the Bengal Florican Houbaropsis bengalensis.
He was with the Bombay Natural History Society, working on the Pelicans
in their endangered species projects. Scientist in Avian Ecology
division since 1992. He has worked in diverse habitats that include
the terai of Uttar Pradesh, the subhumid grasslands of western India,
the Thar desert, the Himalayas, and the Andaman & Nicobar islands.
His major interests are in survey and conservation of endangered
species of birds. He is currently involved in the conservation of
the Lesser Florican and Edible-nest Swiftlet. For

from the Rajasthan University, Jaipur (1995) for his work on the
Heavy metal contamination in and around the aquatic environs of
Keoladeo National Park, Bharatpur. Scientist in the multidisciplinary
study on the Ecology of Keoladeo National Park (1986-1991) of the
Bombay Natural History Society, leading the studies on pesticide
and metal pollution of aquatic system and waterfowl. Scientist and
Head of the Division of Ecotoxicology since 1992.
He addresses heavy metal and pesticide contamination in the environment,

resource utilization pattern of waterfowl in Keoladeo National park,
Bharatpur. Scientist in the multidisciplinary study on the Ecology
of Keoladeo National Park (1985-1991) of the Bombay Natural History
Society and Research Biologist in Wildlife Institute of India (1991-1994).
Scientist in SACON in the EIA division since 1994.
His main interest is in reptiles and amphibians. Currently involved

Pramod. Master of Science in Zoology (1990). He was awarded
Ph.D. from University of Calicut (1996) for his thesis on the "Ecological
Studies on the Bird communities of Silent Valley and neighbouring
forests". He followed up his work by a study of bird communities
of the Western Ghats as a Research Associate under the guidance
of Prof. Madhav Gadgil of Centre for Ecological Sciences, Indian
Institute of Science, Bangalore. Worked as a Fellow for two years
in the Evolutionary and Organismal Biology Unit of Jawaharlal Nehru
Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore on biodiversity
issues. Nature Education Officer of SACON since 2000.
His main interest is in birds and biodiversity and educating the
children and general public of the same. For
